Course Overview

Spanish, or any other language, is not a dry subject which can be simply learned by memorization of facts. Communication is an essential part of life which is best learned by using it. In this class we will be singing songs, playing games, acting out... and all the while using the Spanish we learn to communicate with each other! The best way to learn any language is the way we learned our first - to try it out and play with words. From day one we will be practicing basic conversation, and we will build upwards from there. Along the way we will learn of those who speak Spanish as wee travel through Mexico, Central and South America, over to Spain, and we will not forget our own country here.

------------

Expectations: Most of our work will be completed in class. Students will receive some review for home so parents can see what is going on and so that we can remember our language throughout the week. We will also have one large cultural project to do at home each semester.
